oyl.org — New and Improved
Welcome to the new and improved oyl.org.
We’re very excited to present this brand-new site. It is the culmination of months of work, and it should serve the organisation well for years to come. More than just a site, we hope that oyl.org will serve as a dynamic point-of-entry for youth who are interested in getting involved in politics.
We’d like to thank KM Social Media for their amazing work, and we’d definitely recommend them!
There are a number of new features that we hope you’ll take advantage of:
First of all, our Blog. This will be the place to go for up-to-date information on what’s going in the OYL and in the federal and provincial parties more generally.
Second, this site provides up-to-date information on OYL governance. Transparency is important to us, and all the OYL governing documents are all available online. Furthermore, this site will constantly be updated with new OYL committees and information on how you can get involved in the OYL itself.
Third, we’ve integrated Facebook deeply into the site. You’ll notice that we’ve included a Facebook sidebar to update this site with new content from our Facebook Page. We’ve also set up our comments section on the blog so that you can post comments through the Facebook platform, and click the “Like” button on individual posts. Our members are active users of social networking, and the OYL is catching up!
Fourth, we’ve changed up our email newsletter, “The Activist,” to feature some of our newest online content. If you’re not yet on our email list, please subscribe to the Activist. We’ve also made it easier to sign up for the Activist right here at OYL.org, either through the sidebar or the online signup form.
Fifth, we’re making OYL.org the “go-to” site for information on Young Liberal events across the province. By visiting our events page, you can check out what events are going on in your area, what other clubs are up to in all corners of Ontario, and details about past events.
Sixth, we’ve set up a photo and video gallery to share images of our most successful events, and new videos from the OYL and from the federal and provincial parties.
Finally, we’re working with riding clubs and campus clubs to help them set up their own websites. This is still a work in progress, but with the new WordPress platform (version 3.0), it’s easier to build affiliated sites. We’ll keep working on this so that all clubs will be able to reach out to existing members and prospective remembers to enhance their engagement.
Those are only a few of the new features we’re excited about. Take a look around, and let us know if you have any questions, comments, praise, or suggestions for improvement, please email us your feedback.
Enjoy the site, and comment away!
